Job Summary:

The RN Facilitator Specialty collaborates with the OR leadership team in the coordination of the clinical/operational activities on the surgical units so that optimum quality of patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner. Promotes independent decision making and accountability of clinical staff. Evaluates and ensures operational efficiency and effective clinical performance existing programs. Collaborates with OR leadership in quality and process improvement activities in the following specialties: Cardiac, Neurosurgical, Neuro-interventional, and Transplant.

Position Responsibilities

The RN Facilitator Specialty OR has responsibility for operational /clinical effectiveness of clinical specialty area within the department. Evaluates and ensures high performance standards and compliance with EBP standards. Coordinates educational programs and in servicing. Delegate’s tasks as appropriate based upon patient need and staff qualifications.

Maintains day to day operations to maintain safe, effective and efficient workflow though collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team and other departments. Coordinates daily assignments staffing and on call schedules. Functions in role of circulating /scrub staff as needed.

Demonstrates and promotes fiscal responsibility through the management and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies. Ensures appropriate par levels of consigned and purchased supplies and inventory. Maintains accuracy of Physician preference cards to ensure proper charging

Monitors quality metrics and facilitates performance improvement activities, by reviewing charts, and coaching staff appropriately.

Position Qualifications Required:

Required Experience: 2 years recent clinical OR experience in specialty required.

Broad knowledge of nursing practice and ability to apply specific skills in nursing intervention. Competency in leadership skills.

Required Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred in related field.

Training / Certification / Licensure: Current NJ RN license, BLS.

Appropriate certification as required by specialty or regulatory agency.
