University of Arizona Global Campus Program Chair - BA/MA in Human Resources Management (REMOTE) in United States
Position Summary:
The Program Chair is a faculty member who has demonstrated competence in the discipline and who provides a combination of vision, leadership, and sound administrative practices to support specific degree programs. Program chairs have the responsibility for leadership, teaching, service, and scholarship within their individualized programs and discipline. Their primary focus is to ensure that students within the program receive an educational experience that allows for success and provides the tools necessary to excel upon graduation. Working closely with departmental and college leadership, the program chair is responsible for leading full-time faculty, and associate faculty within specific programs and for the continual review and improvement of the courses within the degree programs.
Teaching Responsibilities:
While expectations of teaching responsibilities are not different from any other faculty, a program chair should model effective teaching techniques for other faculty and should demonstrate exemplary teaching in their discipline.
Demonstrating awareness of and responding to the diverse needs of all students
Displaying a thorough knowledge of both the curriculum and the subject matter
Facilitating instructional materials and providing guidance and feedback to all students
Setting high expectations for student achievement and behavior
Evaluatingstudentperformanceviaestablishedrubricsandpolicies
Responding to student emails and inquiries in a timely manner
Addressing plagiarism concerns according to university policy
Collaboratingwithstudent-facinginstitutionalpersonneltoenhancethestudentexperience
Carrying a teaching load of 8 courses per year
Non-teaching Responsibilities:
Non-teaching job responsibilities include both a service and scholarship component. Scholarship and Service responsibilities are expected of all full-time faculty. Please refer to the Faculty Handbook to review what is defined under scholarship and service responsibilities.
Service and Scholarship
Engage in faculty scholarship and development activities related to the university’s primary focus as a teaching institution, which may include discovery, integration, application, and/or teaching
Support faculty forums and other professional development activities within the college
Participate in faculty communities of practice and community space
Participate in external discipline specific conferences and professional communities
Enhance teaching effectiveness skills by attending seminars, webinars, workshops, and classes through both internal and external programming
Share the load of service tasks in the department
Respond to individual student issues/complaints brought up by enrollment services and student advising
Respond to legal, policy, timecard, governmental issues (i.e., gainful employment, late policy, entry- point policy, competency policies)
Assist as needed with budgeting
Perform other duties as designated by direct supervisor
Participate in ad hoc university wide committees.
Leadership and Management
Establish annual goals and regularly review and communicate performance feedback to faculty
Support Faculty in their development of and coaching work with Associate Faculty
Coach and mentors faculty
Hold regular faculty meetings to discuss programmatic direction
Serve as a conduit for information between full-time and associate faculty and higher levels of administration
Lead communication and collaboration with Admissions, Enrollment Services, Faculty Support and Development, Scheduling, and other groups as identified by dean
Lead new program/course development
Mentor and evaluates performance for direct reports
Monitor team morale and provide solutions for conflict
Support the higher-level leadership in review of various reports to address large scale professional development opportunities and course revision opportunities
Lead faculty communities pertaining to the academic program
Serve as liaisonbetweenuniversity/collegeadministrationandfull-timefaculty
Support college retention and student success initiatives
Lead student engagement and success initiatives for the program and support college-level student success initiatives
Lead special projects as assigned
Oversee all course developments for the program
Implement interventions to improve instruction at the level of the program
Ensure alignment of courses with the program learning outcomes

Support scaffolding of skills and knowledge and the course sequence most conducive to mastery of learning outcomes
Ensure curriculum quality and currency for the academic program

Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate, MA, or MS in a field relevant to the content area
Teaching and leadership experience
Knowledge of accreditation standards and learning assessment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule.

Rate of Pay: $80,000 - $88,750
