Job Summary

The Principal Governance Architect will be a subject matter expert, responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of the unstructured data governance strategy for retention, deletion, privacy, classification, and eDiscovery. Partners with other governance stakeholders including cyber security services, third party risk management, privacy and legal to ensure the newly developed strategies align to all governance practices. The Principal Governance Architect will not implement solutions but will work with the Information Technology teams to ensure governance policies and standards are implemented appropriately and achieve the desired results. Monitors change, develops implementation strategies for new products, including developing and supporting governance of Artificial Intelligence tools and oversees implementation efforts to ensure changes on one platform do not impact other tools. Additionally, identifies opportunities to streamline operations, reduce redundancies or inefficiencies while meeting all governance requirements. Meets regularly with Microsoft, and leads the annual assessments and if needed, monitor remediation efforts. Supports the eDiscovery team and will provide backup support, advice and guidance as needed. Finally, works closely with all levels of the organization, and across multiple functions.

Job Duties

  • Design and oversee the implementation of the enterprise governance strategy for unstructured data, including the M365 platform. (e.g., Exchange, SharePoint, Power Platform, CoPilot etc.) and other unstructured data repositories (e.g., file share technologies).

  • Meet regularly with the M365 platform tower leads in IT, reviewing projects, discussing annual network, security, and media assessments, identifying new products, and ensuring governance requirements are met.

  • Suggest enhancements to streamline operations or remove inefficiencies on the unstructured data platforms.

  • Guide and oversee enterprise implementation of MIP labeling strategy and integration into other protection implementations in both the structured and unstructured environments.

  • Support risk assessments, threat modeling, data loss prevention programs, training, and awareness initiatives.

  • Direct development of program documentation in support of the governance of the platforms. This could include policies, procedures, frameworks, templates, and work instructions.

  • Direct and provide oversight of the matrixed M365 roles within the IT organization to ensure alignment with information governance objectives and long-term strategy.

  • Coordinate and oversee annual network, media and security assessments conducted by Microsoft and coordinate implementation of best practices. Oversee and monitor remediation efforts.

  • Review new and existing add-ins, new products or features from Microsoft suite. Determine impact to Compliance, eDiscovery, or user needs.

  • Provide input and guidance on licensing needs to support governance objectives.

  • Establish and nurture senior leader and executive relationships in partner organizations. Identify interdependencies and build processes and procedures to partner with peers in key organizations such as HR, IT, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Communications and Health Plan Operations.

  • Provide governance oversight on projects integrating with the M365 suite or unstructured data projects.

  • Monitor changes to unstructured environments.

  • Contribute and assist with the execution of identified strategies.

Job Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years demonstrated leadership in design, development, and implementation of programs at a national or enterprise level.

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft architecture, governance, compliance tools, including Microsoft Purview and other supporting tools.

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience supporting unstructured data environments such as files shares.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert understanding of the M365 governance suite of products.

  • Demonstrated track record of technical skills related to the management of the M365 administrative/governance suite (Purview).

  • Able to quickly build rapport and gain the respect and cooperation of both technology and business leaders. Possess strong interpersonal and indirect influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of individuals at various organizational levels.

  • Able to lead, communicate and influence at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional matrix environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large (Fortune 500 or equivalent) health care company or other regulated industry preferred.

  • M365 Global Administration experience preferred.

  • PowerShell scripting experience preferred.

Pay Range: $87,568.7 - $189,732.18 / ANNUAL
