Position Summary and Responsibilities

Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a qualified and dedicated part-time School Nurse to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the School Leader, the School Nurse will be responsible for delivering essential health and medical services to students while fostering a supportive environment for health and well-being.

In alignment with our charter application, the School Nurse will work closely with local health service providers across Pennsylvania to ensure compliance with Article XIV: School Health Services of the Public School Code. This role involves both in-house health management and coordination with external resources to comprehensively address students' health needs.

As the school continues to grow and develop, this position has the potential to become full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

Health Services: Provide comprehensive health services, including administering first aid and CPR, in accordance with established procedures and protocols.

Guidance and Counseling: Offer health-related guidance and counseling to students, staff, and parents, adhering to professional standards.

Professional Development: Deliver training and professional development on health-related topics to school staff as needed.

Health Information Liaison: Act as a liaison among school staff, parents, community health practitioners, and health agencies to gather and interpret health information relevant to educational planning, aiming to enhance students' wellness and functioning.

Immunization Records: Ensure compliance with state immunization requirements by maintaining and updating student immunization records.

Individual Health Plans: Create, analyze, and manage Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for students requiring specific accommodations.

Health Assessments: Conduct various health assessments including vision and hearing tests, height and weight measurements, and tuberculosis tests, in accordance with Advisory Health Board guidelines. Ensure these assessments are performed at prescribed intervals and documented appropriately.

Confidential Health Records: Maintain and protect comprehensive health records for students, including test results, measurements, and completed medical questionnaires from parents or guardians, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.

Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the health and well-being of students and the effective functioning of the health services program.

Qualifications

Licensure: Must hold a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) degree.

Residency: Must be a resident of Pennsylvania.

Language Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication. Ability to convey information clearly and effectively to parents, students, and staff.

Reasoning and Problem-Solving: Strong ability to apply common sense and understanding to follow written or oral instructions. Capable of assessing immediate needs, prioritizing tasks, and multitasking effectively. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Customer Focus: Demonstrated commitment to a customer-oriented approach with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Flexibility: High degree of adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, with demonstrated leadership skills.

Technological Proficiency: Comfortable with technology, including the use of computers, email, and the internet. Ability to quickly learn new systems.

Travel: Ability and willingness to travel as required.
