New York University Part Time Lecturer - General Physics II in United States

NYU Tel Aviv is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course on General Physics II, under the sponsorship of the Physics Department of New York University. The course would be taught in the Spring 2022 semester (Jan. 24 - May 8, 2023). This course is an introduction to electricity, magnetism, light and optics. The course has lecture, laboratory, homework, and in-class participation components. Topics include electric forces and fields, circuits, magnetic forces and fields, electromagnetic induction, light waves, refraction, lenses and image formation. Topics utilized from General Physics I (Phys-UA 11) used include position, velocity, acceleration, force, Newton’s laws of motion, gravitation, work, energy, torque and waves. The course relies upon high school algebra, geometry and trigonometry, vectors, derivatives and simple integral calculus. Problem-solving in the course involves both quantitative and conceptual reasoning.

Qualified candidates should hold a PhD in Physics or related field and have a strong record of research as well as experience teaching. Candidates who have experience in teaching within an American university system to a diverse English speaking undergraduate student body are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those who have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience teaching at the university level in English. Applicants are required to have a legal right to work in Israel.
