SUMMARY:

The College of Inovation and Design (CID/CBE) Student Support Services Onboarding Specialist is responsible for recruiting and identifying potential CID students, assisting them to successfully apply to and be accepted by Texas A&M University-Commerce, declare their CID program of study and enroll in classes through Orientation as well as their first term. This position places a high emphasis on excellence in customer service due to the extensive, wrap-around service provided for each student. Responsible for Admissions decisions in accordance with A&M-Commerce and CID/CBE policies and procedures including review of transcripts and TSI. The Onboarding Specialist will also directly connect students to ancilary services such as Financial Aid, Scholarships, Disability Services, etc. This position is headquartered at the A&M-Commerce Dallas site in Dallas, Texas, and may be eligible for remote work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with A&M-Commerce Admissions and Recruitment staff and other campus partners to recruit and identify potential CID students.

  • Assist potential CID students to apply and be accepted into A&M-Commerce.

  • Assist with review of transcripts and TSI.

  • Assist accepted students to declare their CID program of study.

  • Assist CID students to enroll in classes through Orientation as well as their first term.

  • Directly connect students to ancillary services such as Financial Aid, Scholarships, Disability Services, etc.

  • Meet, refer, and follow-up with CID students regarding their needs and concerns when entering the program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Three years of related experience in customer or student services. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.

  • Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: None

  • Physical Requirements: None

  • Other Requirements: May occasionally require work outside normal business hours and weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of Higher Education functions. Knowledge of recruitment, retention, and marketing. Customer service training or certification.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

May assist to supervise graduate students or student workers.
