Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to work in our Power Generation Mechanical Department at our Boise, Idaho office. Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers), address their challenges, and implement future power grid systems. Gain experience in a wide range of power plant technologies, including biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, and hydro.
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:
Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations
Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data. Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.
Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines.
Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems.
Participate in the development of PFD’s and P&ID's
Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design.
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
Required Education/Experience
BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) degree from an accredited university
5+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities
Professional Engineering registration in at least one US State
The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
Desired Education/Experience
Power plant design experience
Renewable natural gas plant design experience
Working knowledge of Microstation or Auto CAD
Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx
Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe
Experience using Thermoflow
