Aggreko Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation in United States

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer-Power Generation in Metro Manila/Seoul/Tokyo/Singapore with a background in power generation systems to join our APAC Project Engineering team. In this role, you'll ensure the efficient operation of diesel and gas generators and contribute to our sustainability goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with APAC region engineers for accurate project application design.

  • Ensure project designs adhere to quality, safety, environmental, and legislative standards.

  • Advise Sales team on design issues and engineering solutions.

  • Support Temperature Control projects (Chiller/Boiler/HVAC) from initial design to completion.

  • Provide operational technical support and assist in proposal preparation.

  • Support QHSE with Temperature Control related matters, including procedure documentation and incident investigation.

  • Carry out other duties as needed and participate in an on-call rota.

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Related Field: A strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, typically obtained through a bachelor's degree program.

  • At Least 5 Years of Experience in Power Generation: Hands-on experience working with diesel and gas generators, including installation, maintenance, and operational optimization.

  • Proficiency in Refrigeration, Psychometrics, and Fluid Mechanics

  • Coursework and Training: In-depth coursework during the degree program focused on thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.

  • Practical Experience: Hands-on experience designing and maintaining refrigeration and HVAC systems, analyzing air properties, and optimizing fluid systems.

  • Experience in Pressure Vessel, Piping, and Gas System Design and Standards

  • Knowledge of Industry Standards: Familiarity with ASME codes and other relevant standards for the design and safety of pressure vessels and piping systems.

  • Design Experience: Practical experience designing pressure vessels and gas systems, including materials selection, stress analysis, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

  • AutoCAD Skills for Creating and Modifying Technical Drawings

  • Technical Training: Proficiency in using AutoCAD, typically gained through specialized training or coursework.

  • Application in Projects: Experience creating, reviewing, and modifying technical drawings for mechanical systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.

  • Expertise in Equipment Sizing for Engines, Generators, and Ancillary Systems

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to determine the appropriate size and specifications of equipment based on project requirements.

  • Field Experience: Practical experience in selecting and sizing engines, generators, and ancillary systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Abilities

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems effectively.

  • Practical Application: Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

  • Effective Team Collaboration

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and project managers.

  • Project Experience: Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary projects, contributing to team success through effective coordination and communication.

  • Dedication to OHSE Practices

  • Safety Training: Understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental practices.

  • Application in Work Environment: Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure work environment, ensuring compliance with OHSE standards.

  • Basic Project Management Skills

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Experience in Project Management: Practical experience managing small to medium-sized projects, coordinating tasks, resources, and timelines.

    Desirable Skills

  • Experience in Fuel System Design, including fuel storage, delivery, and filtration system integration.

  • Fuel Management Knowledge, encompassing fuel quality assessment and efficiency optimization.

  • Emission Control Expertise, focusing on optimizing combustion processes and designing exhaust gas treatment systems.
