Job Description

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position in introductory mathematics. Responsibilities for the position include: teaching five 3-credit hour undergraduate courses per semester (including, but not limited to developmental mathematics and college algebra); holding office hours; and tutoring introductory mathematics in the JavALab. The Lecturer may be required to teach dual enrollment classes offered by the Department at high schools throughout the region as assigned. Employment in these positions and teaching assignments are based on enrollment, course availability, and needs of the department.

Anticipated Start Date: Spring 2025

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mathematics or closely related field from a regionally accredited university with at least 18 semester credit hours in mathematics or statistics at the graduate level at the time of employment.

  • Experience teaching developmental and introductory mathematics/statistics in higher education and/or experience in secondary school mathematics/statistics education.

  • Strong commitment to teamwork and willingness to accept and fulfill committee assignments.

  • Experience planning instruction and managing the classroom.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills, including proficient knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Dual Enrollment mathematics in higher education and high school settings.

  • Experience incorporating web-based instructional technology with traditional face-to-face classroom instruction.
