Bureau Veritas Asset Management Division

We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Facility Condition Assessor to join our dynamic team! If you're passionate about leading and mentoring teams, building assessment processes and have a deep understanding of technical standards, this role is for you. The Lead Facility Condition Assessor will manage the daily activities of field staff as it relates to the successful execution of assigned projects. The Lead Project Manager leads a team of field staff on specific projects giving them guidance throughout their projects. They answer technical questions related to the project, perform technical reviews, understand client specific protocols, and provide training to project staff. The Lead Project Manager will be required to travel to client project sites.

The Facility Assessors you will lead play a crucial role in performing comprehensive building evaluations, including Facility Condition Assessments (FCA), mechanical equipment evaluations, and other asset management functions for commercial, institutional, and municipal facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Functions:

  • General familiarity with all Asset Management services, budget development, forecasting, and management.

  • Manages field staff assigned to projects on a project-by-project basis, providing direction, support, and technical guidance, reviewing and evaluating their work progress, identifying and resolving problems.

  • Performs the duties of the onsite Facility Assessor (field), including conducting client facing on-site assessments and preparing written report that accurately describes onsite assessment findings including but not limited to: Facility Condition Assessments (FCA), energy audits, accessibility assessments, mechanical equipment evaluations, space utilization planning and analysis, and other technical services associated with capital planning of commercial, institutional, and/or municipal facilities.

  • Due to the possession of special skills or experience, may be assigned to perform various types of services such as, but not limited to facility condition assessments, structural, mechanical, civil, or environmental surveys; pre-construction document reviews; construction monitoring; desk reviews; report reviews; or document review. This position may also be assigned to provide training programs.

  • Supports the management team in daily activities as it relates to the successful management of programs, including managing the overall direction, completion, and budget of the project.

  • Interfaces with client representative onsite and coordinates the team schedule and responsibilities.

  • Maintains project-by-project communication on programs with the management team and keeps them informed of any actual or potential problems including continuing updates of when reports will be e-mailed/shipped to production.

  • This is a client facing role; must be able to represent BV at pre-bid meetings, short-list interviews and project kick-off.

  • Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Plans, schedules, and communicates project timelines.

  • Familiar with contract administration and change order review.

  • Ability to conduct on-site inspections and building condition assessments using mobile inspection and capital planning software on an iPad, perform walk-through surveys of major building systems, structures, interiors, exteriors, and pavements and provide photographic documentation and detailed observations of site and building features.

  • Identify system types, conditions, remaining useful life, and significant deficiencies based on visual inspection.

  • May be required to work overtime and travel up to 50% of the time across the U.S.

  • Work remotely and climb ladders or stairs for on-site assessments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Indirectly and directly supervises employees on the team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in building condition assessments, energy audits, and space planning and leading teams in this capacity.

  • Experience in Facility Design, Building Construction, Assessments, and/or Maintenance Management.

  • Proficient in using mobile inspection and capital planning software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet productivity and quality objectives.

  • A valid driver's license is required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record).

  • Must be willing to fly and live near (or be willing to relocate to) a major metropolitan area with reasonable access to a major airport.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on MS Excel.

  • Ability to travel, on average, approximately 50% time to client sites across the U.S. via plane and driving as determined based on the project location.

Salary Range: Range starting at $90,000Annual Incentive Bonus Plan – 5% of base salary
