Overview
Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Lead Estimator based in Denver, CO or remotely on the West Coast of the United States . This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the region.

Southwest Division
Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility (https://www.shimmick.com/portfolio/north-city-pure-water-facility/) in San Diego at the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System (https://www.shimmick.com/portfolio/groundwater-replenishment-system-expansion/) in Orange County.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Reviews and interprets project drawings, specifications, contracts, and owner-provided documents.
Provides oversight and direction to the estimating team specific to a pursuit.
Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including overall estimating strategy.
Understands construction means & methods, constraints, sequencing, and can communicate to the estimating team the overall impact to developing an estimate.
Has diverse experience in multiple scopes of heavy civil construction and is able to analyze and incorporates historical data into production factors.
Prepares and / or coordinates preparation of estimates.
Provides mentoring, coaching, and training within the estimating department.
Prepares and/or oversees scope and bid package breakdowns for trade partners.
Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.
Ability to lead the estimate development from start to finish and leverages past experience to craft and implement estimating strategy.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous heavy civil construction experience
Experience in water / wastewater / transit / transportation projects
Knowledge of inEight (or similar) estimating software
Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
Highly organized with excellent time management skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Additional Information:
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The salary range for this position is between $150,000.00 - 200,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
