Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an IT Category Management Lead to join our Corporate Indirect Category Management Team. This highly visible, fast-paced, multi-dimensional role drives organizational value by providing strategic and day-to-day leadership across our enterprise IT spend. Key responsibilities include working with executive management and functional stakeholders to identify best in class category practices, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder relationship management.

This role will be responsible for leading one or more direct reports and will report to the Director of Category Management as part of the Corporate Indirect Category Management Team and our strategic supply chain organization focused on leveraging the company’s scale and deploying best practices that achieve best possible quality, technology, cost and delivery for our customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive organizational value (quality, cost, delivery) through cross functional collaboration for assigned categories.

  • Develop and implement category strategy for each assigned category that incorporates customer requirements, product/service requirements, market conditions, sourcing strategy, business risk, and supplier performance capabilities.

  • Manages activities including, but not limited to, supplier assessments and rationalization, negotiations for best total cost of ownership, make vs. buy analyses, vendor managed inventories, inventory reduction programs, cycle time improvements, security of supply, supplier diversity, continuous improvement, category road maps, and procurement/stakeholder collaboration

  • Partner as a “trusted advisor”/subject matter expert (SME) on a continuous basis with internal customers to understand evolving business objectives, expectations and specific requirements.

  • Serve as an internal resource regarding new products/services, capabilities, technologies, and sourcing processes.

  • Develop, maintain, and share knowledge of best practices, market conditions, trends, sources of supply, supplier innovation and capabilities for assigned categories.

  • Lead strategic sourcing process (RFx) utilizing eSourcing technology

  • Define and track appropriate metrics for overall category value add (quality, cost, and delivery), provide data and input to business and corporate metrics and forecasts.

  • Establish sources and alternate sources of supply to enhance means of meeting purchase requirements and achieving best total delivered cost, quality, service, and technology.

  • Establish and lead continuous improvement (e3 business operating system) initiatives to remove waste and drive value for category.

  • Manage supplier performance and use competitive criteria for supplier development and awarding business when applicable.

  • Resolve complex problems relating to supplier quality and service, contract disputes, and other discrepancies.

  • Negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Statements of Work (SOWs) in accordance with established policies and procedures while minimizing contractual risk.

  • Establish internal benchmarks, supplier ratings, and enterprise rate cards (NTE values) for all major lines of category spend.

  • Travel approximately less than 10%.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior Supply Chain experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Supply Chain experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Supply Chain experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • MBA or Graduate degree

  • Experience category management or sourcing experience in categories IT Software, IT Maintenance, IT Hardware & Telecom

  • Institute of Supply Management (ISM) certification (CPSM, CPM) or equivalent

  • ASCM CLTD certification

  • 7 years’ experience with data/cost analysis and delivering executive level communications.

  • Experience utilizing eSourcing tools (Ariba, Jaggaer)

  • Experience leading and developing experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or managers

  • Understanding of Procurement and Finance functional operations

  • Influencing & interpersonal skills with the ability to create and maintain trustworthy relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Experience negotiating IT contract, terms and conditions, statements of work, rate cards, and applying prior experience to mitigate risk

  • Verbal and written communication skills (communicates with impact & influence); effectively interacts with senior leaders and executives

  • Self-managed/motivated – ability to independently set priorities, meet commitments with a desire to continuously improve.

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Washington State and New York State is $84,000 - $156,000. For California, Seattle and New York City, the salary range for this role is $96,500 - $179,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
