Job Title: Lead Accounting Specialist

Location: Remote (Company headquartered in Kalispell, MT)

Position Type: Non-Exempt Hourly Pay

Compensation Structure:

  • Rate: Hourly, approximately 40 hours/week, $25/hr DOE

  • Bonus Structure: Annual bonus based on performance and merit at firm’s discretion

  • Holiday Pay: 7 Paid holidays/year

  • PTO: 7 days of PTO accrued at .027/hour worked

  • Simple IRA: Contribution starts after a 3-month period, Employer matches 3%

  • Phone Reimbursement: $35/month

    Position Summary

As a Lead Accounting Specialist at Elevated Advisory & Accounting, you will be instrumental in onboarding new clients and ensuring their accounting systems are meticulously evaluated, cleaned, and organized. You will oversee and lead financial clean-up projects, manage the client integration process, and ensure the highest standards of financial accuracy. This role bridges the gap between accounting specialists and management, offering leadership and expert guidance in client service and project management. This position is remote, allowing flexibility in your work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Onboarding & Integration:

  • Evaluate new client accounting books and systems, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Lead and manage the cleanup of client accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee the client onboarding process, managing project timelines and deliverables.

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients throughout their onboarding journey.

  • Financial Accuracy & Compliance:

  • Ensure the highest level of precision in recording and reconciling financial transactions.

  • Resolve discrepancies and correct errors in client financial records promptly.

  • Ensure all financial records adhere to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Project Management:

  • Manage special projects related to financial clean-up and system upgrades, ensuring projects are completed within established timelines and budget constraints.

  • Develop and adhere to project plans, coordinating with cross-functional teams as needed.

  • Team Leadership & Development:

  • Perform monthly reviews of accounting specialists’ work to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Serve as a mentor and provide guidance on advanced bookkeeping and payroll queries.

  • Assist in staff development, training, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Client Service & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and proactive communication.

  • Address and resolve client concerns and conflicts effectively.

  • Provide clients with clear and actionable financial insights and advice.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Develop, refine, and document internal accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Implement best practices and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

    Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting or bookkeeping with a proven track record in managing client accounts and financial projects.

  • Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and in-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems (MS Office, G Suite, Sharefile, Karbon, Qbox, QBO, QBD).

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and IRS compliance requirements.
