Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing operational support for the physical and virtual server infrastructure. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of Oracle/VMWare virtualizations and Unix/Linux server administration. Assignments are complex and may have system-wide impact on a platform and/or integrate across the enterprise. Infrastructure typically spans the server platforms, storage systems, middleware infrastructure, enterprise resource planning, and client technologies. May exercise technical supervision over assigned staff.

Essential Job Functions
Maintains Oracle/VMWare hosted virtual environment.?
Installs, configures, and maintains all versions of Unix/Linux-based operating systems (Oracle Solaris, RHEL, Ubuntu, etc.), ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
Installs, configures, implements, administers, and troubleshoots Oracle SPARC Server Hardware
Installs, configures, implements, administers, and troubleshoots the Oracle Virtual environment.
Creates and maintains UNIX user accounts and access management systems.
Performs routine system monitoring, troubleshooting, patch management and Shell Scripting (Bash, Ksh, Perl, Python, etc.)
Performs regular system audits to ensure compliance with established standards, and policies.
Handles system upgrades, migrations (hot/cold), Snapshots and configurations as needed.
Identifies and resolves system hardware and software issues.
Monitors virtual environments and tunes for performance as needed.
Recommends and applies best practices within the environment.
Develops and maintains documentation of processes, and system configuration.
Collaborates with other IT teams to ensure proper system integration and functionality.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Four (4) years of work experience in Systems Administration, Networking, DBA, DBMS design and support, and/or PC Support roles.
Preferred Qualifications
At least four years of experience working as a UNIX/Linux Administrator.
Extensive knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, network protocols and file systems.
Familiarity with multiple information technologies that include operating systems, server virtualization, cloud-based infrastructure, automation, and middleware with expertise in several of the technologies, including Solaris, RedHat/Ubuntu Linux, Oracle, VMWare, Solaris SPARC, and X86 hardware.
Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, and load balancer concepts is a plus.
Familiarity with wired and wireless networking hardware and architectures.
Familiarity with Virtual LAN (VLAN) setup and configuration, Virtual Private Networks, routing, IPV4, IPV6, etc.
Familiarity with server configuration and automation tools
Good analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and quickly learn new skills and techniques.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure architecture and deployment.

Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
