ProQuest Intellectual Property Software Laws Coordinator in United States
As part of the IP Legal structure, this role will be a member of the IP Law Implementation team. As Software Laws Coordinator, this self-motivated individual will coordinate with the team responsible for implementation of IP Law content into Inprotech, including statutory actions/formalities and due dates required to obtain and maintain Intellectual Property rights in different jurisdictions around the world over the lifetime of a matter. The team member will execute against IP Law strategies by supporting the on-time delivery of the patent and trademark law content according to the defined schedule. They will also collaborate and partner with internal teams, such as Product Management and Development teams to maximize a core value of the business.
Primary Duties & Accountabilities
Develop a strategy and execute to keep the Inprotech software product up to date with the jurisdiction law changes communicated by the Legal Research team.
Facilitate alignment of the implementation of IP law content into Inprotech with other Clarivate Intellectual Property products/services
Coordinate, communicate and implement the deliverables associated with each IP law client content release into the Inprotech software product, adhering to agreed/defined release frequencies
Analyze and document product defects relating to the laws interface and law upgrade tools and work with the software Product Teams to resolve; acceptance test defect fixes for the Product Team prior to release
Interact with software developers to escalate and resolve issues in the functionality and programming of the software
Drive team to timely review, interpret, accurately translate and implement IP law business requirements into technical solutions or system rules
Collaborate with internal teams to solve for complex IP Law and docketing implementations
Design and implement specific business solutions from formal specifications and business requirements documents as requested by client or internal resource.
Be the Subject Matter Expert for IP Law maintenance and the calculations/routines performed by the Inprotech Law Engine.
Provide value-add technical implementation explanations on IP laws to internal resources
Collaborate closely with the IP Law Customer Support team to help facilitate timely, comprehensive responses to our clients. This will also include occasional responsibility communicating directly with the client(s) on issues and education.
Capture and report on key metrics relating to Inprotech Law implementations
Constantly evaluate current processes and make recommendations for improvement, standardization and tools to improve efficiencies and accuracy
Key Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or Paralegal degree required
5+ years in the intellectual property industry and with solid experience in Portfolio Management software (preferably Inprotech), docketing practice and IP Law calculations
Advanced knowledge and understanding of Patent rules and procedures of the USPTO, EPO, PCT, WIPO and other national and international governing bodies
Experience working in SQL Server (e.g. tables, advanced queries) preferred
Experience in project management and business process development
Strong analysis and problem-solving skills with proven ability to interpret complex concepts
Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, including ability to influence and negotiate on a global basis across various cultural and language barriers
Strong relationship management skills, ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, team members, and other teams across the business
Proven ability to think like a customer and mitigate risk
Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with proven ability to drive for results and work toward long-term strategic goals
Perform effectively under pressure with a keen sensitivity to urgent deadlines with strong organizational skills
Quick learner with the ability to multi-task, and balance priorities and shifting deadlines
