GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position will maintain commercial and domestic kitchen equipment, heating and air-conditioning equipment, HVAC computer controls, large and small appliances, ice makers and dispensers. Candidate will also assist in maintenance of electrical and security alarm systems to provide a safe and comfortable environment for Wyoming State Hospital patients and staff.

The city of Evanston is a small and friendly Rocky Mountain community that is a 45-minute drive from the world-famous ski slopes of Park City, Utah. There are concerts, shopping, dining, professional sporting events, and an international airport 60 minutes away in Salt Lake City. The area surrounding Evanston is excellent for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Installs and performs fault analysis, maintenance and repairs on various types of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems.

  • Installs environmental control units and facility support systems needing new installation or replacement systems.

  • Supervised installation and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment and maintenance of coolers and blast chillers.

  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules/verify temperatures and locate and repair refrigeration leaks according to EPA regulations.

  • Specifies and designs required plumbing and electrical support infrastructure to include expanded service and electronic/digital controls.

  • Regulates and accounts for the use of ozone depleting substances regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Investigates feasibility of converting systems to use environmentally responsible refrigerants.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with progressive work experience (typically in HVAC)

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Code requirements to include: American Society of heating and Refrigeration Air Conditioning Equipment, National Electric Code, National Plumbing Code and National Building Code.

  • Knowledge of various types of heating systems including steam and hot water converters, infrared and forced air furnaces.

  • Knowledge of various air conditioning systems including hermetic, centrifugal and absorption units.

  • Knowledge of pneumatic, electrical and digital control systems.

  • Knowledge of various types of ventilation systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC)

Education:

Associate's Degree

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC)

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (requires twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.).

  • Ability to work in various locations (including hot or cold areas) and on multiple surfaces.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined and/or awkward spaces.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • A background check, including fingerprinting, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.

  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be completed on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
