Assistant Vice President: Health Care Measurement, Statistics, and/or Data Science (Health Commercial Analytics)

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of the Commercial Analytics team within Aon.

This a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Chicago offices.

While there is a preference for someone in the above listed locations, we are willing to consider a candidate to work virtually as well.

What the day will look like

This role will involve strategic and technical leadership, partnering with other high visibility health innovation and clinical specialty authority teams within Aon to develop, sell, and deliver health analytic measurement consulting solutions for clients, supporting the broader health actuarial and consulting practice in assisting clients with data-driven insights. This role will also involve working with large health claims datasets to support the broader health actuarial and consulting practice in assisting clients with data-driven insights.

  • Serve as senior technical, code and methodology reviewer for analytics deliverables.

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis/machine learning to build advanced health models.

  • Own end to end processes in designing and running complex processes.

  • Develop and deliver data-based solutions and measurement methodologies to help clients and carriers measure the effectiveness of medical programs, and related solutions using generally accepted and standard methodology statistical measurement techniques.

  • Develop solutions based on large health claims and risk datasets such as eligibility data, medical claims and prescription drug claims data from multiple different sources, demonstrating deep expertise in risk adjustment and related claims adjustment methodologies.

  • Liaison and partner with other senior leaders within Aon’s health care analytics, innovation and specialty practice areas

  • Develop validation and quality control methodologies.

  • Lead multiple projects and manage timelines, milestones and delivery efficiently.

  • Raise the bar in prescriptive and predictive insights and improve the talent of junior resources.

  • Stay up to date on upcoming vendors and startups in the healthcare space in areas such as healthcare navigation, digital health and care delivery.

  • Support client teams and analytics & actuarial colleagues with data related requests

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Very strong background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, actuarial science, computer science or other related fields

  • 5+ years’ experience with health claims data with detailed understanding of medical claims reporting and billing.

  • Strong applied statistics skills such as model training and validation, statistical testing

  • Expert with Python coding

  • High performing individual contributor that can mentor junior data scientists.

  • Experience in measurement and validation of health care programs including development of financial, utilization, and clinical outcomes metrics.

  • Practical experience with developing measurement methodologies, statistical measurement, causal inference methods and related techniques

  • Detailed understanding and experience with medical and pharmacy claims reporting and billing including Diagnostic Coding ICD-10, Procedure Coding (CPT, DRG, ICD-10 PCS) and related industry standards.

  • Good communication skills, both oral and in writing.

  • Good organization and time management skills; ability to work independently.

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, economics, mathematics, statistics or other related fields or certifications and/or equivalent years of industry experience.

    Pay Transparency

    The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $100,000 - $140,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

    This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
