Idaho National Laboratory is hiring two Department Managers to support our Facility Design and Project Engineering team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

This team works on facility design and modification, power management engineering, and complex-wide system engineering. You will manage a team of engineers and project managers from entry-level through senior levels of experience. You will be responsible for holding yourself and your team to the INL Conduct of Engineering and Codes and Standards. These Department Managers will report to the Director of Facility & Site Services Engineering.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage, implement, coordinate with cross-functional communication. Develop and establish operational policies within area managed. May participate in strategy development for corporate function. Requires detailed functional expertise and broad company knowledge.
  • Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and/or professionals. Provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to the organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.
  • Execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
  • Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.
  • Receive objective based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Responsible for single function, location, and/or technical discipline.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines.. Participate in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.
  • Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.
  • Partner with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other external stakeholders.
  • Communicate and present results and recommendations across discipline

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years of experience OR Master's degree and eight (8) years of experience.
  • Major area of study must be in an Engineering discipline.
  • Master's degree and Professional Engineering (PE) license is ideal.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

*Job Information: *

  • The target pay range for this position is $123,735 - $185,631 annually. The full pay range is $103,032 - $262,740. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
