SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Innovation and Design, the Associate Director of Academic Programs, and in partnership with an assigned Faculty Course Reviewer, the External Subject Matter Expert Course Content Developer assists with course development in the competency-based education format. This is a part-time staff position that does not include teaching responsibilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with College of Innovation and Design faculty and staff and with an assigned Faculty Course Reviewer to:

  • Identify industry-specific trends that impact industry professionals now and in the future

  • Articulate and guide the formation of program and course specific competencies

  • Provide real-world guidance and examples to translate into applied course assignments and ensure the necessary scope for signature assignments

  • Identify course materials including open education resources (OER)

  • Establish the structure and content of the course competencies in a modular format

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience in the specific industry that the course objectives build competencies toward the larger degree. Knowledge of basic systems, regulations and policy, financial and economic impact of the industry, ethics, and administrative skills necessary to manage and navigate the industry. Skilled in interpersonal communication, cultural competence, time management, critical thinking and decision making, and leadership experience.

  • Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.

  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Determined on an as-required basis depending on industry specification
