Entry-Level Environmental Planner

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment and corrective action services. We are seeking a highly motivated, Entry-Level Environmental Planner for full-time employment in our Columbus, Ohio office supporting our Midwest Project Management/Planning Department. This position would assist the Environmental Project Management Team on siting and routing of electrical infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist senior staff in energy infrastructure siting and routing studies

  • Assist in preparation and technical writing of environmental planning and analysis documents

  • Assist with local zoning or permit applications

  • Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements

  • Assist senior staff in field reviews and investigations to determine suitable project site locations

  • Attend and participate in open house and public meeting environments

  • Interface with internal Project Managers, staff, clients, and sub-contractors

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience

  • This position requires a BS degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related degree

  • Zero to three (0-3) years of experience

  • Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong writing skills

Desired Education/Experience

  • Knowledge and experience with Arc GIS is a plus
