ICONMA, LLC Electronic Design Engineer in United States

Electronic Design Engineer Location: Fargo, ND Duration: 6 Months with possible extension Description: Major Purpose: Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors. Major Duties: Applies knowledge of company products, policies and practices to provide economies through standardization of parts and products. Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations. Executes high level applications to more complex problems. Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope. Skills, Abilities, Knowledge: Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools. Skill in using company information systems and processes. Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge. Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors. Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP). Education: Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent) Degree in a Science discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent Degree in an Agricultural Sciences discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent) Work Experience: Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. (1 - 3 years) Engineering experience. (1 - 3 years) Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. (1 - 3 years) Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. (1 - 3 years) Product engineering experience. (1 - 3 years) Work with partners that have design control of RF products to make necessary changes to circuit design, components, production processes and/or testers. Evaluates products that are not meeting specifications to look for improvements in quality, delivery and cost performance. Performs investigation, design of experiment, detailed worst case analog and digital circuit analysis, simulation, integration and verification for projects basic in scope. Selects components based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Communicates findings and/or takes action based on these analyses. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation. Duties: Skilled in establishing strong working relationships, gaining trust with partners that have design control of RF products and with production personnel. Applies existing design solutions to routine problems. Produces and/or evaluates possible solutions for electronic assemblies to improve cost, quality and performance based on design knowledge of engineering applications together with the involvement of manufacturing, mechanical, software and other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel. Analyzes, reads and understands technical requirements written by others to determine the best technical solution for routine problems or projects. Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent data analyses) to document the solution required for continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities and adopting design changes developed with other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel. Learns and applies Company engineering policies and practices; learns Company products. Executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. Qualifications: Education: Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program. Skills and Experience: Required: Understanding of RF theory, satellite communications, GPS receiver system-level design, RF design, GPS signal processing & navigation Skilled in influencing without authority. - KEY Requirement - Strong communications skills. Ability to technically comprehend microprocessor-based embedded electronic, software, and mechanical packaging designs and requirements. Ability to technically comprehend testing, manufacturing, quality control, and marketing requirements. Ability to perform routine engineering work requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks. Able to make preliminary selections or adaptations of engineering alternatives. Ability to provide mentoring and training to technicians, increasing their technical ability. Ability to interface with customer with guidance from supervisor. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Experience in electronic circuit design Desired: Experience with Pspice or other circuit simulation tools Experience with MathCAD Experience with Mentor Graphics or other schematic capture tools Experience with designing to harsh environmental specifications Experience with 8, 16 or 32 bit micro controllers Years of Experience - 3-5 years
