Job Summary:

The Director of Regional Operations will support the build and evolution of Global Clinical Operations (GCO) regional growth strategy in collaboration with other GCO Regional and Global Functional Leaders. The regional operations leader will establish and conduct performance assessments, process improvements, and best practices in regional clinical operations. The position will report into the global Clinical Trial Business Operations Executive Director and help balance regional specific needs and common business practices to promote efficiencies, standardization, and global ways of working where possible. Scope includes all Daiichi Sankyo (DS) regions where GCO and R&D business is conducted. Business needs may require the position to adjust allocation of time to key responsibilities and/or support other adjacent remit areas in support of GCO goals.

Responsibilities:

Regional and Global Collaboration and Communication:

  • Drive the planning execution of regional leadership meetings and facilitate decision-making, including monitoring progress on goals and escalation of business-relevant risks/concerns. Support DS local affiliates in identifying appropriate Global functions to resolve issues and risks.

  • Improve transparency, communications, and alignment between local DS Affiliate clinical operation functions with Global functions acting as a conduit for those outside of GCO.

  • In collaboration with GCO Alliance Management, support DS Affiliate interactions and global CRO stakeholders.

  • Be well informed and aware of DS regional operational practices and processes.

  • Increase awareness of DS regional practices and champion for regional needs with relevant global stakeholders.

  • Where appropriate, provide regional input into global initiatives and/or identify appropriate points of contact within regional functions/DS Affiliates.

  • Support identification of annual regional goals including process improvement initiatives.

  • Support regional leaders in annual resource (HC budget) planning management, and input into global 3-year resource forecast (3YRF) process. Support consolidation of resource input across all regions and provide input to CTBO’s resource planning function.

  • Raise regional specific topics (concerns, gaps, status on annual goals, opportunities) to appropriate global and/or regional leadership and/or governance forums (e.g. GCO Performance and Delivery (PD) Forum, Asia Regional Clinical Leaders Forum (ARC) etc.).

  • Support, liaise and provide input on regional matters to GCO’s functional excellence team on business continuity plans.

Regional Performance Assessment:

  • In collaboration with other regional and global functions (CTBO, Functional Excellence) lead and support identification, analysis and tracking of regional specific metrics KPIs to identify trends, opportunities across regions to support process improvement efforts within regions. Share results of performance assessments to ensure regional performance and trends are known and well understood.

  • Where appropriate, provide regional specific input to global dashboards. Identify opportunities where local regional roles are required to be included and support identification of appropriate local contacts.

  • Keep informed of major industry trends across regions and countries to support regional growth strategy and proactive identification of systemic regional challenges and opportunities.

Regional Ways of Working and Process Improvement:

  • Lead and support the build of GCO’s regional oversight function in collaboration with other GCO Regional and Global Functional Leaders. -Lead and support identification and implementation of consistencies and efficiencies in processes, ways of working, best practices in regional clinical operations functions.

  • Lead and support resolution of issues, and opportunities for improvement raised by regional leaders and/or global functions. Where appropriate, drive and manage regional specific improvement initiatives. -Lead and support identification and sharing of lessons learned and best practices.

Team and People Management:

  • Potential to lead and/or support hiring, training, and performance management of direct over time. Be aware and be able to proficiently navigate cultural differences and diversity across the multiple regions and countries. Support cross learning of global ways of working across diverse cultures.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in industry or related field. required

  • Master's Degree 8 years' experience required with Masters preferred

  • PhD 5 years' experience required with PhD preferred Experience Qualifications

  • 10 or More Years 10 years with Bachelors, 8 years with Masters, 5 years with PhD required

Travel:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% Leadership role requiring periodic travel regionally and globally
