Description

Performs routine custodial and general building and equipment maintenance work in the care and cleaning of the County Building. Performs related duties as assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Head Custodian.

The requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, those outlined below.   • Sweeps, mops, waxes and uses buffers on floors; vacuums carpets within County Building;

  • Empties trash cans, straightens offices;

  • Performs other cleaning duties that are assigned can include doors, windows etc.

  • Responsible for cleaning and preparation of bathrooms, meeting rooms, and sidewalks;

  • Participates in snow removal as required; and,

  • Performs ground maintenance duties.

Typical Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or the equivalent and/or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience:

  • Some commercial building cleaning experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of cleaning practices;

  • Familiarity with standard cleaning supplies, equipment and ability to use them appropriately, economically, and efficiently;

  • Ability to read, write, understand, exercise and comply with oral and written instructions;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

  • Ability to maintain reliable transportation and communication; and,

  • Ability to work in unfavorable weather conditions and emergency situations.

Supplemental Information

Walking, talking, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, and gripping. Incumbent may be required on occasion to move and lift up to 30 lbs (boxes, files, cleaning equipment etc).

This shift is 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
