Job Description Summary: Active participant in MGH CNA Earn to Learn program or equivalent program. Attends CNA classes and meets all classroom requirements. Participates in required clinical training and meets all applicable requirements. Performs basic patient assistance duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Description:

The Role: CNA Trainee

The Opportunity:

Candidates are hired into this Earn to Learn opportunity as CNA Trainees. In this role, your duties will be to:

  • Assist patients in meeting emotional, spiritual, & recreational needs. Following a satisfactory demonstration of specific skills and competencies defined by regulatory bodies may perform those skills and competencies within the scope of practice.

  • Participate in continuity of care by participating in inner shift communications, huddles, and walking rounds.

  • Assist with an order of patient rooms by keeping them stocked and tidy.

  • Provide calming and reorienting conversation with patients in cases of patients' agitation or confusion.

How long is the Program?

The program is 10 weeks in total!

  • 1 eight hours paid class per week

  • 40 hours of clinical instruction (including both 8 & 12 hours of paid

  • shifts)

  • 24, 32, and 40 hours per week available, including class schedule

  • (Schedule options 7a-3p OR 11a-7p)

  • Every other weekend shift required

  • On average 3-5 hours of study time outside of normal work hours

What are the program requirements?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Ability to complete a basic math and reading skills assessment test.

  • Dependable attendance for classes, clinical, & scheduled shifts required.
