GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to hire twenty-three (23) Biologist Technicians - Fisheries. These seasonal positions will assist fisheries management crews with all aspects of aquatic resource management activities. Positions will be based out of Casper, Cody, Green River, Jackson, Lander, Laramie, Pinedale, and Sheridan, Wyoming.
The duration of these positions ranges from 4 to 6 months. Most positions start in April or May and conclude at the end of September or October. Applicants unable to work through the end of August should not apply.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Duties will be variable and may include electrofishing rivers, small streams, and reservoirs, gill netting and trap netting reservoirs and lakes, amphibian and reptile surveys, stream/habitat surveys, angler surveys, chemical restoration, data entry, and equipment maintenance.
Biologist technicians will assist with watercraft inspection and decontamination in cooperation with the state's aquatic invasive species program and assist with the aquatic habitat program.
Candidates need to be willing to learn and successfully perform routine fisheries management tasks
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those pursuing a career or degree in fisheries. Preference may include those with a high school degree plus experience in fish and wildlife resource management, research, or college coursework towards a degree in fishery or wildlife management, ichthyology, hydrology, watershed science, or other closely related fields.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Technicians must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision and work well with others on a small crew.
These are field positions that require physical labor, such as hiking, wading in streams and rivers, and carrying backpacks.
Fieldwork can occur in inclement weather, and some positions require occasional camping in the field.

Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.
Lodging, waders, rain gear, uniform, and all other necessary field equipment and expenses will be provided when in the field.
Hiring will start as applications are received, and hiring may begin as early as January.
