The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is in the midst of a wholescale transformation effort aimed at delivering a force that is ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century. DAF is transforming elements of all phases of its human resource management (HRM) life cycle to meet their people demands.

ManTech will ensure that the DAF’s business processes and supporting information technology platforms fully empower DAF personnel and Guardians to maximize their abilities. Your work on the DTD team will help transform data and enterprise architectures, consolidate and modernize platforms, and integrate AI into human capital business processes.

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented AWS Cloud Engineer- Data Migrations to join our team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain data solutions using Amazon Redshift

  • Work with large-scale data sets, optimizing performance, and ensuring the reliability and availability of the Redshift environment

  • Data Modeling and Design: Develop and maintain data models for Redshift databases, including schema design, table structures, and optimization techniques

  • Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into efficient data structures

  • ETL Development: Design and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it as per business requirements, and load it into Redshift

  • Develop efficient and scalable ETL workflows, considering data quality, performance, and data governance

  • Performance Optimization: Optimize query performance by creating appropriate data distribution keys, sort keys, and compression techniques

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, fine-tuning queries, and optimizing data processing to enhance Redshift's performance

  • Data Integration: Integrate Redshift with other AWS services, such as AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and more, to build end-to-end data pipelines

  • Ensure seamless data flow between different systems and platforms, maintaining data integrity and consistency

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify issues and ensure the stability and availability of the Redshift cluster

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnose, and resolve data-related issues, and work closely with support teams to resolve any performance or operational problems

  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to protect data stored in Redshift

  • Implement encryption, access controls, and data masking techniques to secure sensitive data

  • Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain documentation of data models, ETL processes, and system configurations

  • Scalability and Capacity Planning: Plan and execute strategies for scaling Redshift clusters to handle increasing data volumes and user demands

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, or Business.

  • Associate level AWS cloud certification

  • Must have 8+ years of Amazon Redshift Architecture experience and 5+ years of experience with AWS Pipeline to develop ETL for data movement to Redshift

  • Must have 5+ years of experience using databases such as Oracle, SQL Server

  • Strong knowledge on AWS environment and Service knowledge with S3 storage understanding

  • Strong knowledge multiple cloud technologies including VPC, EC2, S3, and Amazon API Gateway

  • Extensive experience with writing, understanding and maintain complex SQL

  • Experience with RedShift Spectrum and experience building data models to support analytics capabilities, such as facts & dimensions and star schema

  • Should understand nuances of moving data from RDBMS sources to Columnar DB (Redshift)

  • Hands on experience in Data Warehouse (DW) and BI tools is mandatory

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizenship and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time with occasional travel.

The projected compensation range for this position is $141,100-$234,400. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
