What we want
The Assistant Director for Forensic Nursing Continuing Professional Development will be responsible for developing and managing the continuing education program within the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing. This position will oversee all forensic nursing continuing professional development activities such as SANE education, forensic nursing simulation, mock testimony simulation, webinar development and implementation, and other duties. This position will supervise the Program Manager for Forensic Outreach, collaborate with instructional designers to ensure courses meet e-learning best practices and are evidence based, and facilitate forensic nursing conferences.

Required Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Six (6) years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of three (3) years as a nurse educator
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Current, or eligible, unencumbered RN licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Must be able to plan and manage projects
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation applications
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Must have excellent organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree. Additional preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree or Master of Education degree or Master of Nursing Education degree or equivalent
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Registered Nurse
CA-SANE and/or CP-SANE and/or SANE-A and/or SANE-P certifications for a least five (5) years
Experience preparing and presenting continuing education programs
Experience preparing and delivering SANE education courses
Minimum of three (3) years management experience
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) for at least 3 years
CA SANE and/ or CP SANE and/or SANE-A and/or SANE-P and/or GFN-C or AFN-C
Responsibilities:
Development and Implementation
Develop forensic nursing education courses for front line workers and coordinators/managers of forensic nursing programs
Create lesson plans that accomplish predefined goals
Complete all required continuing education application forms for CE offerings
Organize and facilitate forensic nursing conferences
Review and improve continuing professional development curriculum regularly
Implement cutting edge activities (podcasts, forensic nursing grand rounds, interactive education, etc…)
Collaborate with TAMU CON
Collaborate with CON nursing coordinator for continuing education
May teach continuing education and professional development courses as needed
Collaborate with CLRC as required
Identify and support subject matter experts during course development
Supervision
Hire and supervise Center continuing professional development staff as assigned
Conduct performance evaluations as required
Oversee and facilitate foundational SANE education courses (both online and face-to-face)
Budgets and Reports
Develop and deliver reports as requested
Develop and present budgets for educational courses
Track and trend course outcomes based upon course evaluations and rapid cycle quality improvement strategies
Regularly provide CE evaluation reports to Center Director
Provide data for grants and other activities as requested
Assist with obtaining funding for forensic nursing outreach educational activities
Marketing
Identify appropriate audiences for marketing CE courses
Ensure forensic nursing education courses are scheduled and marketed to communities of interest
Develop and disseminate stakeholder surveys to identify gaps in forensic health care education
Accreditation duties
Direct, perform, insure, and document all activities required and or suggested by external accreditation bodies and appropriate licensing boards/agencies. These activities include, but are not limited to, the preparation of self-studies, annual reports, and mitigation of program deficiencies.
Serve as contact person for the department with regard to state, professional, and accrediting groups, the community, and other external contacts.
Coordinate curriculum development, review and comprehensive assessment of curriculum with members of department and meets ANCC accreditation standards.
