GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A great place to live for those interested in outdoor activities Cheyenne is just 30 minutes from Curt Gowdy State Park, about an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, and about 90 minutes from Glendo State Park and Reservoir. Located just 45 miles from two (2) Division 1 schools, the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University, for those who may want to pursue additional educational opportunities. Outdoor activities include hunting, fishing, camping, boating, backpacking, mountain biking, and skiing, and just a 90-minute drive to Denver International Airport. Come put your talents to work for the benefit of Wyoming citizens and generations to come, providing clerical and office support functions by maintaining the Board of Control adjudication records. The successful candidate will also perform data entry and other administrative functions to support administrative and technical operations of the division to maintain the mission of the Wyoming State Engineer's Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Prepares legal advertisements for adjudication purposes before each quarterly board meeting.

  • Prepares proof reports before each quarterly board meeting to present that data for review by each superintendent to declare that the appropriations involved have been perfected in accordance with the permit issued.

  • Responsible for creating Certificates of Appropriation for newly adjudicated water rights and the official recording of said certificates.

  • Data entry of new adjudications into the water rights database (e-permit).

  • Maintenance of Stock Reservoirs to remain unadjudicated reports; making appropriate corrections to the report upon direction from superintendents or the adjudication officer; preparation of the final report.

  • May assist in the creation of amended certificates or modification of existing certificates as part of the petition process.

  • Researches extensive documentation for various requests from the field offices; this includes supporting material such as maps, permits, and proof forms.

  • Supports associate administrative personnel in agency mail handling and customer service functions.

  • Determine the proper course of action to correct inaccurate information.

  • Extensive research and review of water rights records to determine the history of water rights.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications.

  • Knowledge of records processing and maintenance procedures and systems.

  • Knowledge in the preparation of complicated documents.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the agency, and each respective division/program.

  • Knowledge of investigating alleged non-compliance.

  • Knowledge of project management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree (typically in Business)

Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Support Specialist I

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Support Specialist I

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.

  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
