This position is for a R&D Technician in the R&D Gum and Candy Team based in Singapore.
Gum and Candy (G&C) Category in Singapore play a very important role in Mondelez, as a R&D Technician, you will be working as part of a cross functional team with close connection with the Singapore Technical Site Administrator and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) lead. You are responsible for supporting G&C projects by assisting R&D colleagues to execute lab and pilot plant trial activities. The purpose of the role is to provide a safe and effective environment by operating and maintaining lab equipment and pilot plant facilities to relevant standards.
The R&D technician acts as a primary technical contact for developers, maintenance contractors and material suppliers for lab and pilot plant activities. The R&D technician is in-charge of managing, maintaining the Mondelez International lab GMP and Safety Standards and pilot plant operations including maintenance and repair.
How you will contribute
These duties include but not limited to:
Operational
Support operation and manage lab and Pilot Plant equipment and facilities including ingredient preparation, equipment set up, clean up and product testing
Provide operations support for the developers and contribute to the development of experimental programs. This includes preparation, prototyping, and analysis of prototypes. May also be tasked to do lab trials on their own with minimal supervision.
Complete assigned experimental tasks with accuracy and using safe work procedures, GMP requirements and basic HACCP principles
Assisting with ordering, replenishing and maintaining materials and stock rotation
Manage raw material inventory and consumables, including raising of purchase orders - stock take, maintain and ordering of raw material for Gum & Candy developers
Managing the pilot plant budget, maintenance and repair of equipment in the laboratories, monitor overall upkeep and maintenance of machines/equipment
Process
Implement and maintain good manufacturing and housekeeping practices including equipment cleaning procedures
Cooperate and liaise with appropriate teams (microbiology, analytical, HSE) to ensure on going food safety and sanitation management program in place
Safety
Conduct Safety Analysis, equipment/process risk assessment and assist in development and review of safe system of work
Identifylab and pilot plant users training requirements and establish and maintain equipment/process training records for all lab and pilot plant colleagues
Documentation
To create and update Gum & Candy product making Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Maintain lab and pilot plant documentations (SOP, Sanitation procedures, Safety procedures, protocols)
Ensure overall compliance with Mondelēz International GMP, Quality Policy and Safety standards
Qualification and Experience
Engineering related courses in Chemical or Mechanical would be an advantage. Technical Education or Diploma or Degree undergraduate
Minimum 2 years laboratory and warehouse management work experience will be an advantage
Basic skills – mechanical comprehension, basic food regulations and food safety, knowledge of HS&E and GMP practices in the workplace
Demonstrate initiative and independence; can effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision and ability to follow, highlight and improve site safety processes
Experience in GMP, HACCP and lean manufacturing environment is preferred
Computer Skills in Microsoft Package: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word and Power Point
Inventory management skills
Report writing skills
Good interpersonal communication skills
Fluent English – both verbal and written is mandatory
Travel requirements:
May need to travel to Mondelez Singapore HQ on an ad hoc basis to provide support to R&D colleagues when required.
