Oracle Linux System Administrator in Mexico

Job Description

We seek a Senior-Level Linux Systems Administrator/BDA to join the Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) Site Operations team. Your role will be crucial in supporting Oracle's internal lab resources, both on-premise and in-cloud, for implementing and managing lab test and infrastructure systems and supporting product development efforts for Oracle Linux, OVM, Cloud, and Engineered Systems teams. MAA Site Operations provides a wide range of on-premise lab and cloud-based services to support these product development teams, including deployment and management of the servers, storage, networking, layered infrastructure, and applications services on which they depend. A successful candidate will have a broad range of technical skills, experience, and strong teamwork, communications, and project management skills, particularly in Oracle RAC. Automation skills and cloud experience are strongly preferred. This role is also responsible for complex problem resolution (sometimes involving integration and support of a range of Oracle and third-party technologies), learning new hardware platforms and related peripherals, creating and improving operational standards, procedures, and documentation, and the development of automation to enhance reliability and ease-of-use of lab services and efficiency of routine systems administration tasks, using agile DevOps methodologies and cloud-native solutions.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical assistance with systems & software production environment

  • Engineered Systems System administration such as image upgrade, re-image and DB patch, configuration, and re-configuration health checks

  • Upgrade and implementation planning and advice on image upgrade Management.

  • Proactively alerting customers to product issues.

  • Delivery of reactive onsite technical support

  • Resolve known issues according to procedures documented in the Knowledge Notes database.

  • Document unknown issues requiring expert technical knowledge.

  • Perform root cause analysis of complex product problems and their solutions/technical escalation follow-up.

  • Interact with developers to enhance collaborative problem-solving.

  • Providing and verifying problem workarounds or patches

  • Researching and responding to technical inquiries

  • Become a trusted advisor for our product developers

EXPERIENCES:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Linux.(Servers, Storage & Network) are essential

  • Hands-on experiences with Mission Critical Data Center Systems & Database environment administration tasks.

  • Hands-on experience in Operating Systems Virtualization (VMware and OLVM)

  • Hands-on experience with the Oracle Database release RAC/Grid Infrastructure.

  • Experience with any of the following products and technologies will be an advantage:

  • Oracle Exadata Database Machine, PCA, ODA, Oracle ZDLRA Cloud Machine, Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management), Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Recovery Manager.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Oracle storage is a plus

  • Working experience in OVM Migration projects

  • Working knowledge of Engineered systems like Exadata, ODA, PCA, etc

  • Working patching experience on Exadata, Exalogic, PCA, etc

  • Mid-level+ scripting/programming skills to automate routine SA tasks (using, e.g., Python, Ansible, Go, Perl, C, Shell)

  • Worked on the installation of Docker. Created custom Docker container images, tagging and pushing the images.

  • Individual contributor role: able to manage his work independently.

  • BS or MS degree in CS or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
