Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Packaging Technologist / Packaging Development Manager with 13-15 years of industry experience and a degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field. The successful candidate will lead the projects in Global Packaging COE, driving innovation and ensuring that TE’s packaging solutions meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background, capable of managing complex projects from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Management:

• Lead and mentor a team of packaging engineers and technologists.

• Develop and implement strategies for team growth and professional development.

• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

2. Packaging Development:

• Lead the development of innovative packaging solutions that align with company objectives and market demands.

• Manage packaging projects from concept through to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, procurement, and production, to develop packaging that meets technical, aesthetic, and functional requirements.

• Work closely with other R&D managers to foster a united team spirit, improved processes, and procedures as well as common ways of workings.

3. Sustainability Initiatives:

• Drive sustainable packaging initiatives in line with corporate sustainability goals.

• Evaluate and implement eco-friendly materials and processes to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.

• Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes related to sustainable packaging.

4. Quality and Compliance:

• Ensure all packaging meets regulatory requirements and quality standards.

• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of packaging materials and designs.

• Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the quality and consistency of packaging materials.

5. Cost Optimization:

• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in packaging without compromising quality or performance.

• Conduct value analysis and value engineering to optimize packaging designs with the packaging engineers in BU

• Innovate ideas on new cost optimization techniques which could be implemented company wide

6. Innovation and Trends:

• Stay ahead of industry trends and advancements in packaging technology.

• Explore new materials, technologies, and processes that could benefit the company.

• Drive innovation by developing new packaging solutions that offer a competitive advantage.

7. Project Management:

• Oversee multiple packaging projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet deadlines and objectives.

• Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress and report to senior management.

• Mitigate risks and resolve any issues that arise during the packaging development process.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

• 12-15 years of experience in packaging development, with a strong track record of successful projects.

• Extensive knowledge of packaging materials, processes, and technologies.

• Proven experience in team leadership and project management.

• Strong understanding of sustainability in packaging and familiarity with eco-friendly materials and practices.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Proficiency in relevant software and tools for packaging design and project management.

• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to packaging.

• Able to build trusting relationships and collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders.

• Experience in the capital goods sector.

• Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
