Job Summary

Cloud Database Administrator

Job Description

We are looking Cloud Database Administrator. This position will be full time and Remote.

What You’ll do.

  • Assist in the overall planning for the future direction of the database in support of the Enterprise mission and goals Guide Database Engineering strategy from a management perspective background.

  • Provide standards, procedures, and guidelines for the effective and secure use of databases such as Redshift, Aurora, Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, Oracle, etc.

  • Perform application database design assessments with technical Product Owners to build and deploy complex database solutions that meet business needs

  • Configure, and monitor Database clusters (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.) to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Implement and maintain database schemas, tables, and views to support business requirements.

  • Monitor system health and performance metrics, and proactively address any issues to minimize downtime.

  • 24-hour production support including review and resolution of database log and monitoring messages

  • Partner with and evaluate external vendor offerings to help enhance the database service to better meet business needs and align to those strategies.

  • Tune and optimize SQL queries, database design, and data distribution strategies to improve query performance and reduce latency.

  • Set up monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address performance issues, security threats, and other operational concerns.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scripts, etc. to track key performance indicators and usage trends within the environment.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science information technology or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with specific expertise in managing Amazon Redshift clusters.

  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and experience tuning SQL queries for performance.

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star schema design, data distribution, and query optimization.

  • Familiarity with AWS services and infrastructure, including IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and S3.

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and orchestration tasks.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment and decision-making.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
