Emerson Experienced Software Engineer (DevOps) in Hungary

Emerson Test and Measurement is looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for DevOps and build tooling to help modernize and maintain our legacy software projects! In this role, you will be responsible for upgrading our existing C++ codebase to the latest C++ compiler version, ensuring compatibility, performance optimization, and stability of the software. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Analyze existing C++ codebases to identify areas that require updates for compatibility with the latest C++ compiler versions.

  • Migrate projects to modern C++ standards (C++17 or newer), ensuring performance and compatibility improvements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve compiler errors, warnings, and backward compatibility issues that arise during the upgrade process.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and development teams to ensure that upgraded projects meet performance and reliability standards.

You scan the environment for new technical skills, knowledge, or capabilities that can benefit business or personal performance.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field and 1+ years of experience in software development or DevOps.

  • Strong Python scripting skills.

  • Solid knowledge of build tooling like gcc, ld (linker), linker scripts and build systems such as GNU Make and CMake.

  • Familiarity with C++ (C++17 or newer) development and debugging.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience resolving complex software issues.

  • Ambitious and collaborative approach to thrive and excel within a distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.

  • Familiarity with Perforce, Pearl and Conan
