Job Description
The Maintenance Team Leader will be accountable for the day to day running of the output within their defined area to achieve set targets whilst also providing hands on maintenance across the site.
The Maintenance Team Leader will indirectly supervise team members to ensure they are empowered to deliver their accountabilities.
In addition to the team leader responsibilities, they will provide a quality maintenance service to the business to include effective day-to-day maintenance of all machinery, building and factory equipment.
The Maintenance Team Leader will utilise team resources and management in line with HSE policies and ergonomic requirements with a ‘hands-on' approach.
• Provide daily direction for the team on all maintenance related activity, ensuring the team are focused and prioritising the customer needs.
• Ensure resource is prioritised in response to breakdowns to minimise business impact.
• Ensure effective communication and cascade of business issues, policy deployment initiatives and any relevant changes or company information, supported by Site Services Manager as appropriate.
• Responsible for meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the maintenance department in accordance with Policy Deployment objectives.
• Ensure adherence to HSE policies, GPI & Ergonomics requirements.
• Champion 5S for the area.
• Support reduction in maintenance costs and the enhancement of standardised best practices across the department.
• As well as management responsibility:
o Repair and service all plant and equipment as and when required.
o Participate in on-going day to day maintenance of plant and equipment.
o Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery as and when required.
o Participate in trouble shooting activities in respect to machine breakdowns, leakages etc.
o Diagnose faults.
• Participate in trouble shooting activities such as 8D and route cause analysis with respect to maintenance activity (examples include, but are not limited to, machine breakdowns, leakages).
• Drive and identify preventative maintenance activities in accordance with the TPM schedule.
• Own training and maintenance instructions for TPM, keeping them up to date and ensuring relevant colleagues are trained as appropriate.
• Manage contractors for relevant maintenance activity, checking standards, signing off on work.
Job Requirements
• Experience of working within a manufacturing or production environment in a maintenance engineer capacity.
• Completed apprenticeship (NVQ level 3), HNC or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Multi-skilled background (both mechanical and electrical).
• Capable of reading circuit diagram mechanical and electrical
• Excellent fault-finding skills, with an analytical approach to problem solving.
• Knowledge and application of maintenance management systems.
• Preferably previous experience of leading and coordinating a team with good communication skills.
• Able to champion and show full endorsement of business goals and objectives.
• Demonstrated high levels of ‘change energy' to continually motivate team towards change implementation, with proven knowledge of improvement methods
• Capable of interpreting KPI's and developing appropriate actions.
• A keenly developed sense of right first time attitude towards maintenance and quality.
• Good communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Positive attitude with ability to adopt ‘hands-on' approach.
• Good time management is key with excellent organisation and planning skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft applications particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel and the ability to analyse data and produce detailed reports.
• Working knowledge of Lean principles and how to deploy them effectively.
