IHG Director, Global Brand Safety Standards Programme in United Kingdom

Your day to day

You will take a leading role in a number of IHGs global programmes, including the Brand Safety Standards (“BSS”) Programme, which aims to ensure all hotels across our global portfolio – both existing and new openings – have controls in place to manage a span of Significant Risks relating to health and safety and physical security (“S&S”).

You will leverage your substantial professional experience relevant to health and safety, fire safety and physical security, in addition to above average influencing skills to:

  • Champion an understanding of globally applicable Significant Risks relating to S&S across relevant stakeholders, using appropriate tools to articulate how these risks might present and be mitigated (such as through use risk registers and bow-tie assessments).

  • Subject IHGs global S&S content to continual scrutiny and improvement in collaboration with business stakeholders.

  • Maintain an ‘outside in’ perspective; leveraging an understanding of prevailing external code and norms, as well as the practices of comparable organisations, to validate, challenge and refine the our global programmes.

  • Design, implement and monitor relevant business processes to bring our programmes to life within each part of our organisation. You will do this in partnership with a team of Regional Safety & Security specialists (alongside other regional stakeholders) who retain responsibility for implementation under your guidance.

  • Understand internal and external pressures that might represent a change in IHGs risk exposure; stimulating discussion on pro-active or re-active action as necessary.

  • Design and embed IHGs reporting and assurance arrangements relating to the programmes, to ensure that they continue to deliver as expected for across the business.

  • Lead on engagement with key external stakeholders of the programmes as necessary, which may include the IHG Owners Association and Business-to-Business accounts.

What we need from you

  • Ability to create and champion business processes in a complex and multi-stakeholder environment.

  • An analytical mindset; the ability to seek out insight and data that can drive decision making.

  • Fluent in aspects of fire safety, health and safety and physical security pertinent to the hospitality industry.

  • Substantial experience of leading/owning technical projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communicator.
