Oracle Site Reliability Developer in Canada

Job Description

As part of the Software Development organisation that is responsible for building Oracle’s vision for Low Code SaaS, this Organisation delivers Enterprise-grade service management to support Oracle Business Units and customers, focusing on next generation of cloud SaaS on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

We are looking for a Principal Site Reliability Developer to be a key a member of this new global team, where this challenging and highly rewarding role will allow the successful candidate to use their skills to develop and extend Oracle APEX services that will help any business generate revenue and maintain margins.

Oracle APEX provides all the tools you need to build applications in a single, low code extensible platform and runs as a part of the Oracle Database. APEX helps Oracle eliminate service complexity and deliver results faster to our customers. Focusing on DevOps for this new wave of SaaS services, the team will rapidly test and deploy new capabilities to add service value and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a dedicated professional that possesses a strong combination of IT engineering and IT operations skills, with a sound knowledge of DevOPS methodology, SQL and Oracle database. You will solve technical challenges by defining, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting Oracle Cloud services, platforms, and infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.

Duties will be varied and complex requiring independent judgment and proactive action with the role including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work with an elite global team to provide Oracle Database Administration support for APEX services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

  • Lead role in managing critical production applications and databases for 24/7 operations.

  • Responsible for monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of DBTools services.

  • Design, develop, implement, oversee, and adapt APIs - application programming interfaces

  • Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas.

  • Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles.

  • Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to solve issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems.

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of the critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance

  • Work independently as well as communicate effectively and work across multiple geographically-diverse functional teams.

  • Collaborative with various members of the team to implement various security measures to safeguard data.

  • Research and investigate the potential impact of new threats and exploits

  • Define and document Standard Operating Procedures

What you’ll work with

The role requires a sound knowledge of Oracle database, SQL, PLSQL scripting, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Dev-OPS tools.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience on database administration in Enterprise or Cloud systems.

  • Strong expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodology.

  • Strong expertise in SQL, PLSQL scripting, Oracle packages, procedures and functions, Linux bash scripting, SQL Tuning.

  • Experience with Python, Ruby, Perl, Shell scripting or Java.

  • Good system administration skills including Linux internals, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing technologies.

  • Experience in developing scripts to automate application deployments and installations.

  • Excellent verbal and written English Language communication skills who can communicate well with middle to senior management.

  • A self-motivated individual who can demonstrate strong prioritization skills to retain focus on key objectives.

  • Proficiency in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services or equivalent.

  • Experience with the following will be an advantage.

  • Oracle APEX

  • Oracle REST Data Services

  • Resolving common vulnerabilities such as: Cross-Site Scripting, SQL Injection, Cross-Site Request Forgery, HTTP Response Splitting

  • Basic understanding of configuration management solutions such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet.

  • Continuous deployment and source control such as Jenkins, GIT, Maven, etc.

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker technologies.

  • Basic understanding of Terraform.

  • Practical knowledge of cryptography, encryption, ciphers, certificate and key based technologies

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

Canada: Hiring Range from $66,700 to $145,000 CAD per annum

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

This job requires proficiency in the English language.
