Job Description Summary
Provides legal leadership and strategic legal advice to the Eurasian and African Growth Markets (EAGM Zone) within GE HealthCare. The Executive Counsel will act as a strategic business partner to support the senior business leaders in the EAGM Zone. Key areas of focus include supporting the commercial organization to drive business growth and more integrated and efficient processes; providing early-warning and guidance on the zone’s evolving regulatory and enforcement developments; ensuring appropriate management of litigation and governmental/regulatory matters; and collaborating with the Compliance function to promote a culture of performance with unyielding integrity.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Being an active business partner to the EAGM Zone business and leadership team, continually working to identify strategic opportunities to increase growth/reduce costs, engage in intelligent risk taking, and identify and reduce enterprise risks
Driving cross-business, global, and regional synergies to maximize effectiveness of the global GE HealthCare legal team
Advising the business on commercial, public procurement, distribution, litigation, privacy, antitrust, improper payments, and advertising/promotional matters
Providing regulatory, trade control and compliance advice and training in collaboration with the Regulatory, International Trade Control and Compliance functions in GE HealthCare Legal
Applying combined business and legal judgment to deals, relationships, and issues requiring legal attention
Collaboration with global legal colleagues and subject matter experts to analyze and advise the EAGM Zone commercial business on complex legal/compliance issues that arise out of their respective global operations
Structure and negotiate complex transactions and oversee outside counsel
In conjunction with GE HealthCare Chief Litigation Counsel, coordinate management of relevant litigation of significant impact to GE Healthcare
Manage and develop GE HealthCare EAGM Zone legal team
Help support cross-modality transactions and enterprise solutions deals
Required Experience :
JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership
10-12 years of business law experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department, including, but not limited to, drafting, negotiating, and closing complex business transactions in a regulated environment (i.e., purchase, sale, and distribution agreements).
Experience in the healthcare industry and previous exposure to healthcare industry regulations, particularly including a pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device focus
Significant experience and proven ability to function as a senior member of a management team and manage a cross-functional or global legal function.
Demonstrated experience providing strategic and pragmatic legal advice and ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively in a highly regulated environment
Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate using English (and local language) and outstanding interpersonal/communications skills
