Collins Aerospace anticipates the need for a Chief JTAC Instructor to lead the establishment of a JTAC school in a country based in the Middle East region. The requirement conforms to the guidelines of the JTAC MOA and ensures that all JTAC students are taught by qualified JTAC Instructor/Evaluators, for the live control elements of training as a minimum. These instructors shall be current and qualified Instructors and Evaluators who shall be permanently located in the JTAC Schoolhouse located in a Middle East country . This posting is subject to program award expected in Q4 2021 and applicants must be willing to relocate to work and live in the Middle East for a minimum duration of 3 years commencing in December 2021.

Job Summary

The Chief Instructor is required to develop, revise and update Training Course requirements for both JTAC Certification and Qualification training in order to achieve accreditation under the relevant Joint CAS Action Plan Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) 2004-01 Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) (Ground).

This position will lead a team of experienced JTAC Instructors (Technical Training professionals), covering complex product modules specific to an assigned product line. Additionally, the incumbent recommends and executes processes and procedures to ensure trainers' competency and the quality of training materials and demonstration methods are in keeping with the program deliverables and local customer expectations.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Managing the creation of JTAC certification courses, capable of being accredited to JTAC MOA standards

  • Managing the delivery of JTAC certification courses to selected customer personnel

  • Instructing the JTAC certification course

  • Assisting the site Commander in development of future Joint Fires courses at relevant location

  • Advising on matters pertaining to JTAC/CAS operations and air-land integration in region

  • Providing assistance in application and attendance of JTAC special programs and schools

  • Advising and developing future concept of operations (CONOPS) for the customer

  • Contributing to the development of operational and tactical doctrine

  • Contributing to JTAC/CAS continuation training development in the region

  • Providing an assessment of customer JTAC supporting documents. Recommending additional documents as required to cover the spectrum of Joint Fires within the framework of the customer doctrine. Assisting the development of governing documents, which may be needed to support the JTAC programs

  • Oversees communications with organizations and departments to ensure product research, development, and delivery of training programs are in line with expectations.

  • Recommends content for inclusion and the format of training aids and materials.

  • Advises on the policies that trainers should follow when administering tests in conjunction with technical training sessions.

  • Consolidates and provides feedback to the management on the effectiveness of training activities.

  • Develops technical product training programs for customers.

  • Manages training staff to ensure consistency and quality of programs.

  • Maintains proper documentation of technical product training policies and procedures to ensure accuracy of implementation and minimize risk.

    Qualifications (essential):

  • JTAC/Forward Air Controller (FAC) qualification from a MOA accredited nation

  • Commissioned Officer or Warrant Officer with minimum rank of CAPT or SGT who is information technology (IT) literate

Qualifications (preferred):

  • A University Degree or 8 years prior relevant experience

  • JTAC/FAC Instructor or Evaluator /Supervisor from a MOA accredited nation

  • Air Weapons Range Safety qualification

  • Systems Approach to Training (SAT) qualification

Work Experience (essential):

  • JTAC/FAC managerial experience at unit level or within a training institution.

  • Wider experience of application of Joint Fires in training and operational contexts.

  • Advisory functions (peace-time or operational) to an O6 level or higher.

  • Up to date knowledge of U.S. and NATO CAS TTPs with combat experience

  • Experience and awareness of Middle Eastern Culture

Work Experience (preferred):

  • Manager at MOA accredited Schoolhouse

  • JTAC/FAC Course design experience

  • CAS TTP development

  • Service in Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC) or Middle-East region
