SUMMARY: The Head Basketball Coach is responsible to support Cumberland County College's vision, mission and strategic objectives and is accountable for the management and supervision of the Basketball program and its participating student athletes and staff. This is a part time position.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Promote the Men's Basketball program and Cumberland County College in the community and high schools, including the recruitment of student athletes for the
College basketball team.
Schedule, conduct and supervise team practice sessions, and assist with the program
Provide individual and team instruction, skill development and techniques, conditioning
and preparation and learning opportunities for basketball team and members.
Monitoring team members' academic progress and performance and make referral to
appropriate College office and services to enhance student's academic success.
Assist with athlete eligibility certification and completion of forms and medical
examinations for practice and team eligibility.
Provide media information for the promotion, publicity and recognition of the
basketball team including interviews, player profiles, team statistics and
Report any incidents of player injury, misconduct, disruptive behavior and
Coordinate off season basketball team activities, including strength training, academic
support, and referrals.
Develop and coordinate special project fund raising activities for the basketball team.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree desired; Basketball coaching experience; community college experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or coaches and guidance counselors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
