Navy Federal Credit Union Model Risk Governance Analyst in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

To assist in the governance and operations of the enterprise level Model Risk Management (MRM) program. Collaborate with NFCU business units to manage the development, change management, and execution of model governance practices for the end-to-end model lifecycle, in accordance with the model governance framework, policies, and procedures. Implement continuous model governance enhancements and innovation. Support executive management in evaluating enterprise model risk and in developing strategies to mitigate and control model risk in support of business initiatives and compliance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing maturity process of the model governance function

  • Support the implementation and day-to-day maintenance and administration of our key model risk governance system

  • Maintain model risk policy, procedures, templates, workflows, and guides

  • Monitor and test for MRM policy compliance Assist in building out action plans and milestones to drive remediation of any identified issues

  • Develop and maintain business unit and enterprise-wide model risk KRIs and reports

  • Develop and maintain instructional content for various model governance audiences

  • Communicate model risk governance metrics, policies, procedures, and supporting processes

  • Identify model governance process risks, design controls, and execute controls

  • Support model inventory and governance process information requests from internal and external stakeholders

  • Provide and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, best practices, and business processes and technology used in model risk management within the financial services industry

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a risk management role

  • Experience working in or consulting for financial institutions in a risk, modeling, or analytical context

  • Demonstrated initiative-taking and ability to creatively solve business problems

  • Experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

  • Experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors

  • Skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact

  • Skill to influence, negotiate, persuade, and build consensus to reach agreeable exchange & positive outcomes with business partners

  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Statistics or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of model risk regulatory guidance

  • Knowledge of modeling in a variety of business use cases

  • Ability to interpret analytics and statistical results for presentation to a variety of audiences

  • Experience with financial institution regulations

  • Master's or advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics or related field
