Navy Federal Credit Union Manager I, Mainframe Systems Program in Vienna, Virginia

Overview

The Manager I manages professionals and/or leaders and is accountable for the performance and results of the team. Decisions are guided by policies, resources and business plan. The Leadership impact is the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness of objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for specializing in mainframe CICS and MQ systems programming, maintenance, and updates, and providing technical support to aid and enhance the efficiency of CICS and MQ for our members.

  • Leads a team of systems engineers as they deploy new or updated software, plan their changes, test their changes, and move their changes through test and production.

  • Performs the role of traffic cop for Production CICS recycles.

  • Plans and reviews complex changes including documentation of change records for Production CICS recycles.

  • Manages internal projects.

  • Acts as a mentor to engineers in project management, change planning, change testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.

  • Plans training opportunities for team members.

Qualifications

  • Experience in leading, guiding and coaching professional staff.

  • Experience in resource allocation and management.

  • Experience in managing personnel and information technology resources.

  • Advanced knowledge of Service Life Cycle.

  • Effective in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives.

  • Experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors.

  • Effective relationship building, negotiation and facilitation skills.

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience with IBM mainframe zOS, CICS, and MQ.

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience with the CICS web interface and host integration products.

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience with TCP/IP communications.

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience with mainframe software monitoring tools.

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience with Unix System Services.

  • Advanced knowledge of automated systems.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results or relationships.

  • Effective skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.

Desired Qualification

  • Knowledge of NFCU operations, processes and procedures.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
