Position Purpose: To maintain and promote the safety of participants, provide first-aid assistance and transporting injured participants.Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of ageIntermediate level skier or higherHave Current EMT Certification or Wilderness First Rescure Certification NSPS member in good standing preferred, but not requiredOutdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Technician training providedCurrent Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) qualificationAlpine or Nordic patrollers may applyCurrent Healthcare Provider CPR certification preferred, but not requiredComplete annual OEC, OET and CPR refreshers as requiredLift Evacuation Training will be providedGood communication skills; both written and verbal, including radio communicationsProfessional appearance: ski helmet must be worn, wear standard red patrol jacket/vest with white cross and black pantsTeam focused; friendly and adaptable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be punctual, reliable, able to follow instructions and work as part of a team Responsibilities: Lift safety checks: report any problems identifiedCheck slopes for hazards and mark as appropriateSetup and breakdown additional netting required each operational dayMonitor trail conditionsRespond to possible accidentsProvide emergency medical careTransport patients; including from most difficult terrainHandle incidents through transfer to EMSKeep records and assist in accident investigationInspect and maintain ski patrol equipment and supplies Perform chairlift evacuations if necessarySafely perform all job duties and responsibilitiesWork together with other staff/departments as neededWork Environment & Physical Demands:Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.Must be capable of balancing, climbing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stopping, crawling, using equipment controls and push, lift or pull up to 75 lbs.Will be required to climb stairs, walk up and down inclines and uneven terrain.Ability to work effectively in extreme cold weather conditions and in other inclement weather conditions.Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.Must be able to lift 50lbs. of material routinely unassisted and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
