National Winter Activity Center Winter4Kids WINTER: Race Coach in Vernon Township, New Jersey

Position Purpose: The Winter4Kids Athletics Race Coach is responsible for delivering and creating a safe and fun training environment for our athletes. Our coaches guide participants through the Winter4Kids experience, as a mentor and role model for groups of school age participants. Coaches partner with instructors to implement the day’s teaching plan, facilitate games and activities, and assess the abilities of their group. Qualifications: Strong skiing and coaching background required to ski safely & confidently in all snow conditions, on varying moderate types of terrain.A love of winter, a passion for skiing and a willingness to share that passion with children- experience working with teams, effectively communicating expectations and facilitating their activities.Must pass background check, complete on snow training and Safesport child safety training.Level 100 or higher U.S. Ski and Snowboard Certification or foreign equivalent preferredU.S. Ski and Snowboard race experience preferredP.S.I.A Certification preferredMust hold and maintain a current U.S. Ski and Snowboard Coaches LicenseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Personable, patient, driven, reliable and accountable skier/snowboarder with a love of the outdoors, a passion for coaching and mentoring children.Team player committed to creating a nurturing, productive and fun environment that ensures the safety, success & welfare of all participants and coworkers. Ability to help athletes improve upon their ski racing abilityResponsibilities: Guide groups of children in a fun & engaging lesson format.Mentor participants on Core ValuesAttend on and off snow coaches training sessionsAssist in teaching proper technique appropriate to the participants’ ability level. Promote safety & provide students with guidelines for safe skiing/riding. Work Environment & Physical Demands:Ability to ski and carry up to 75 lbs. of gearMust be able to push, lift or pull up to 50lbs Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniquesVisual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers Some physical requirements of this position include standing, running, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and demonstrate sports activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/program.
