Forward Air Sales Director in Vernon, California

Position: Sales Director - 3PL Fulfillment Services

Location: Vernon, CA or Dallas, TX

Salary: $150,000 plus commission

Job Description

As a Sales Director within our direct sales organization, you will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening customer relationships within a defined territory, focusing on large e-commerce and wholesale clients, particularly apparel brands. This role requires expertise in complex selling environments, as you will engage with key decision-makers in companies both large and small, to create opportunities for account growth. You will offer clients a full array of value-added services from our 3PL fulfillment solutions, ensuring seamless logistics and fulfillment capabilities for their e-commerce and wholesale shipping needs.

Your ability to identify signing vs. buying authority, create tailored sales strategies, and effectively nurture and expand customer relationships at all business levels will be essential in achieving personal and company sales goals. Specific experience in the logistics or supply chain industry, particularly in 3PL fulfillment services for e-commerce and wholesale apparel brands, is highly desirable.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop new business by identifying potential customers in the e-commerce and wholesale apparel sectors, conducting research on potential clients, discussing their supply chain needs with decision-makers, and implementing solutions for growth and retention.

  • Maintain existing business by understanding customer needs through ongoing research, interaction, and collaboration with internal customer success teams, ensuring retention through tailored 3PL fulfillment solutions.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, such as specialized product sales teams, logistics specialists, and customer success executives, to provide a seamless and outstanding customer experience.

  • Regularly engage with customers to ensure they fully understand the 3PL fulfillment services offered, maximizing the utilization of our portfolio of solutions for e-commerce and wholesale shipping needs.

  • Foster strong customer relationships by conducting regular business reviews, entertaining key customers, developing tailored solutions, and exhibiting strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Leverage new and existing technology tools such as CRM systems (Salesforce), mobile devices, and presentation software to effectively communicate and execute sales strategies.

  • Take the initiative to lead internal teams, demonstrating organization, discipline, and adaptability, particularly in dynamic environments or when facing challenges.

  • Monitor competitor actions in each account and adjust strategies as necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the 3PL fulfillment market for apparel brands.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the sales and fulfillment processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Logistics, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in sales, with a preference for experience in the transportation, logistics, or 3PL fulfillment industry.

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and growing market share within the logistics or e-commerce sectors.

  • Experience in selling 3PL fulfillment services to customers, especially within the apparel or retail industries.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients both large and small.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on customer solutions and logistics.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment.

  • Proficiency in CRM software (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Willingness to travel overnight as necessary to meet customer needs and demands.
