MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) serves close to 6 million subway customers and 2.3 million bus customers on an average weekday. Its 50,000 employees provide mass transit and paratransit service throughout the five boroughs of New York City, including almost 7,000 subways cars at 472 stations.

The NYCT Department of Subways employs 30,000 individuals who work together 24/7, 365 days a year, to move millions of customers safely to their destinations. These employees operate trains, maintain railcars, assist customers in stations, make critical right-of-way or electronic repairs and provide administrative support to deliver timely and reliable customer services.

Compensation :

Salary Range (Grade C / 677 Hay Points): $100,700 - $142,929

UTLO Rate: $135,500

Responsibilities :

This position is responsible for the ongoing project management, implementation, and oversight of all CBTC and related capital projects impacting the Division of Service Delivery. Coordinating with CPM and under the direction of the General Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for project planning ( e.g. goals/objectives, success criteria/milestones, evaluation methodologies, critical path analyses, status reports.)

The selected candidate will be responsible for oversight of project execution and implementation as it relates to Service Delivery ( e.g. field testing, schedule/approval); will review training materials, coordinate training of field personnel, and manage the allocation of reimbursable employees. Will ensure that Field Operations is fully supported throughout the various project phases. Additionally, will partner with CPM to drive project progression by participating/chairing Working Groups (Testing, Safety, Training), while also serving as an advocate for the Division's needs. This position will supervise a team of operating, supervisory personnel who will support field testing, training, data collection and milestone evaluations.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of full-time related experience in a Rail Rapid Transit or Railroad Operations. Four (4) years of supervisory, administrative, or managerial experience in Rail Rapid Transit or Railroad Operations, -OR-

A satisfactory combination of education and experience.

Desired Skills :

  • Extensive experience in an operating environment and knowledge of the NYCT subway system.

  • Knowledge of CBTC, ATS and other emerging transportation management technologies .

  • Knowledge of NYCT/Subways policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of business case analysis and cost-benefit analysis.

  • Excellent project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Selection Method :

    Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

    All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
