Have you ever been frustrated by the lack of usability of developer tools? If the answer is yes, then ASBX - Operator Tools is the place for you. Our Charter is to improve the builder experience when it comes to operator tools. These are all the workflows post code deployment that never seem to work without a lot of manual intervention. Our goal in Operator Tools is to build automation tools that can be used across Amazon to make the operator experience easier, faster, and most importantly safer.

Key job responsibilities

A Sr. Software Development Engineer on the Medic team withing Operator Tool is responsible for the Medic product. Medic is the oncall assistant that helps builders troubleshoot and resolve issues. As a member of the team you will be expected to:

  • Play a significant role in building new software and services from scratch

  • Drive an environment of continuous improvement and world-class efficiency

  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to continually improve operational readiness and availability

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, make trade-offs, and encourage risk-taking to maximize business benefit

  • Evaluate and recommend new and emerging products and technologies

  • Drive operational excellence in your organization

A member of the team seeks to embrace the agile development process and iterate with the tightest feedback loops possible. We maintain daily contact with our customers and exercise our mandate to reduce operator toil by inventing new customer focused features that enable our colleagues in Amazon to deliver better, faster, easier and more safely then they could without us.

About the team

The Medic team is a multi-disciplinary team composed of SDEs , a UX Designer, Researcher (when appropriate) and a Product Manager. Together our goal is to build world class tooling to making the job of the Amazon builder easier.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $150,700/year up to $251,700/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
