Senior Backend Java Engineer

We seek a Senior Backend Engineer with Java and .NET experience and expertise in integrating and extending the Backbase (http://www.backbase.com) digital banking platform !   • You have experience integrating and extending the Backbase (http://www.backbase.com) digital banking platform

  • You worked in the agencies/professional services companies, are consultative, professional, client-facing, with impeccable communication skills

  • You are passionate about technology and using it to help solve complex business challenges.

  • You easily transform business requirements into technical architecture.

  • You collaborate with Designers, Product Managers, and your development team to deliver compelling products and services.

  • You have the ability to learn fast (like, really fast) and are ready to make a big impact.

  • You apply Agile values to your work and understand how they can improve your team’s success.

  • You value writing clean, maintainable, testable code that solves business problems quickly.

  • You are proactive, engaged, consultative, and comfortable interacting with clients to solve their business challenges.

  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good teamwork skills and experience performing peer code reviews.

    Must Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of production-level experience in BOTH Java and .NET. Strong knowledge of .NET Core, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework.

  • Knowledge of Spring and Spring extensions, like Web MVC, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.

  • SOAP and RESTful Web Services and tools like XML, JSON, and RAML.

  • Microservices architecture knowledge.

  • Experience performing Unit Testing using JUnit.

  • Knowledge of application Servers like Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, or JBoss.

  • Strong grasp of Git, Subversion and other source control technologies.

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Integration Patterns and frameworks like Apache Camel.

  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.

  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.

  • Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data.

  • Good knowledge of SQL.

  • Experience in the financial services industry or professional services experience is a plus.

    Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working with FinTech.

  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Methodology, such as Scrum and Kanban.

  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI).

  • Web Application Security (OWASP) and best practices for writing secure code.

  • Persistence frameworks like Hibernate.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.

  • Databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or NoSQL.

    This is a 100% remote position

    Compensation

    The typical salary range for this position is: CAD $90K-$120K annually. Salary offered will be based on skills, experience, and market data.
