Our AI Center of Excellence builds data-driven automation capabilities to support core operations at global scale. We leverage off the sciences of data, information processing, machine learning, and generative AI to improve user experience, automation, service resilience, and operational efficiency. Our work expands AI-driven capabilities of our businesses in primarily Retail and IT with global impact.
Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you'll be at the forefront of delivering ML/AI solutions to our internal partners. Your role involves:
• Developing and managing high-impact, strategic AI programs
• Prioritizing initiatives and defining processes to improve team operations
• Identifying technical requirements and mitigating risks
• Coordinating cross-collaborative efforts to ensure successful execution of AI projects
• Advocating for science and engineering best practices while maintaining agility
• Managing both legacy and future-focused products/programs
• Driving business and progress reviews, connecting teams with stakeholders and leadership
• Influencing business direction through data-supported recommendations
• Fostering collaboration between teams and partners, aligning with our AI-centric mission
This role requires a unique blend of deep technical understanding, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. You'll be the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring our AI initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively while driving innovation and growth.
A day in the life
As a Principal TPM, you'll oversee AI-driven product development in a fast-paced environment. Your daily tasks include:
• Collaborating with diverse teams to clarify use cases and requirements
• Resolving challenges to keep projects on track
• Adapting program execution with sound judgment
• Reporting progress and providing strategic recommendations
• Balancing business, scientific, and engineering needs
You'll work at the intersection of business, science, and engineering, ensuring smooth execution of AI initiatives. Your role is key in translating complex concepts into actionable plans and driving projects to successful completion.

Basic Qualifications
7+ years of technical product or program management experience
10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
5+ years of software development experience
Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience in working directly with applied science teams.
Experience in working with AI/ML for industrial applications and large-scale production environments.

The base salary for this position ranges from $157,600/year up to $263,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
