Port of Vancouver Application Administrator - Financial Systems in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. Our mandate as a Canada Port Authority, as set out by the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada’s trade objectives, ensuring goods are moved safely and responsibly through the Port of Vancouver. That means providing infrastructure and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic and cargo within the port. It also means we carry out reviews of proposed activities and developments on federal port lands and waters to determine whether a project can go ahead without impacts to the environment and community that cannot be mitigated.

The application administrator, financial systems, plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting the port authority integrated financial and business solutions. This position is responsible for keeping the technical foundation of assigned systems on the supported versions and updated with the latest available security patches.

This position assists the manager, enterprise applications in technical day-to-day support of the financial and business systems and in the preparation, testing and deployment of systems enhancements, including integrations with other port authority systems.

What youdo:

  • Subject matter expert(SME) for assigned systems including ongoing maintenance, upgrades, roll-out ofnew modules or relevant systems replacement implementations.

  • Complete assignedelements of the systems implementation cycle including envisioning, definitionof user requirements, preparation of technical specifications, buildingprototypes, performing system tests, and preparing relevant documentation andtraining material.

  • Suggest technical solutions, configurations, and functionality toenhance the use of the financialsystems.

  • Perform relevantresearch, develops project plans, risks, and cost estimates.

  • Work with vendors andexternal implementers to make sure financial systems supported follow the bestpractices and comply with internal and external standards, operatingprocedures, and policies.

  • Develop and support therequired integration with other port authority data sources and systems.

  • Monitors vendor anduser requested enhancements and / or patches; applies appropriate upgrades;keeps system up to date including security patching.

  • Maintains and supports theport authority’s financial and business environment; support includes troubleshooting systems issues, testing, and implementing program fixes andenhancements integrations with other systems, creating/updating all relevantdocumentation.

  • Collaborates with peersin IS and business units, and external parties to provide support forapplications maintenance, modification and enhancements as required throughproblem solving, testing, reports development and documentation.

  • Supports the ongoingreview and updating of the cybersecurity program for assigned areas ofresponsibility. Participates in implementing cyber security requirements.

  • As required, thisposition will assist with the development, enhancement, and maintenance ofrelevant policies and procedures.

  • Assist with the systemsdisaster recovery plans & procedures.

  • As required, thisposition will assist with special exams and audits.

  • Provide guidance,support, and training to power-users of the various integrated modules, toensure business requirements are met and the system performance is optimized.

  • Create comprehensivetechnical system documentation and provide training to users.

What you bring:

  • Must have a two-year full-time technical diploma in information technologyor another acceptable field from a recognized post-secondary educationalinstitution.

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a mid to large enterpriseenvironment, providing JD Edwards and/or otherfinancial applications and business systems implementation, configuration,integration, upgrades, and support.

  • Must have demonstratedexperience with the following:

  • Hands-ontechnical experience working with the financial systems.

  • Applyingapplication and security patches.

  • Configuringand maintaining security such as user roles, application, action, row, columns.

  • Developingintegrations with other systems.

  • Workingknowledge of both on-premise and cloud platforms and various cloud servicemodels.

  • The following will beconsidered an asset:

  • Exposure/backgroundto other finance or budgeting tools and systems (e.g. AccPac, Infor SMPlus/ISM,Prism, Anaplan, Planful).

  • Experiencewith project management tools (Jira)

  • Exposureto modern delivery approaches such as Agile and SCRUM

  • Experiencein business process management tools (I.e. ServiceNow, Microsoft Powerautomate)

  • JDECNC activities such as package build and deployment, OMW, ASU/ESU

  • Implementingsegregation of duties (SOD) based on provided requirements.

  • JDEcomponents like orchestration, AIS, Business Services

Marine Transportation Security Clearance(“MTSC”)
