The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our team in Van Wert, OH. You will play a key role in maintaining the functionality, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure and systems.

Job summary:

As the IT Systems Administrator, you are responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and networks within an organization. Your primary duties involve ensuring the integrity and security of IT infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support to users.

Responsibilities:

System Maintenance and Configuration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and software applications.
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor system resources and performance to identify and resolve issues proactively.

Network Administration:

  • Set up and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Configure network protocols, IP addressing, and security settings.
  • Monitor network traffic and performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize network performance.

Security Management:

  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malware.
  • Configure and manage security tools such as antivirus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and encryption protocols.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.

Data Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop and implement data backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Regularly back up critical data and test backup systems to verify their reliability.
  • Perform data recovery procedures in case of system failures or data loss incidents.

User Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with system configurations.
  • Create and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Train users on how to use IT systems effectively and securely.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance with IT policies and regulations.
  • Maintain inventory records of hardware, software licenses, and other IT assets.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other IT professionals, such as network engineers, database administrators, and cybersecurity specialists, to solve complex issues and implement new technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide timely updates on IT projects and initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
